Thanks for viewing my boring profile! I can be pretty damn harsh reviewing submissions, but we'll get on just fine as long as your cartoon doesn't use tweened stickmen, terribly animated sprites, or involve Hitler going around the world in 80 days.

Mask

"Love it"

submission: Mask
date: June 23, 2006

I saw this when it was released and I've got to say, I still absolutely love it. It has such a brilliant style to it, and it's so well drawn - plase make some more animations like this!

Pinball The Movie

"Interesting..."

submission: Pinball The Movie
date: June 22, 2006

The idea was pretty interesting, although I think I kinda jumped the gun when I read the title - I was assuming it was be some kind of comedy adventure following a pinball through its nightmarish trip through a pinball machine, as it attempts - without success - to escape. But then again, that's just how my kerazy mind works.

In light of what you actually produced, however, I'd say this isn't too bad for a first attempt. But on a somewhat more serious note - dear lord, did you tween ANY of this?! It looks like the entire thing was done frame-by-frame, and if that's the case, hot damn lol. For stuff like fight scenes and character movement, fbf is great, but when you've just got a ball bouncing all over the place, for the love of God! Learn and use tweens, they'll save you hours and hours of moving stuff around for no reason!

Good luck with your next Flash animation.

*psst, i'm using a cheap ass version of flash called 'swishmax'* lol. whats tweening?

Tomorrow's Nobodies Ep.3

"Brilliant"

date: June 20, 2006

This is fantastic, I can't believe I'd never seen this series before. The whole thing has an excellent style, and the way it's drawn and animated is brilliant. Furthermore, unlike so many 'funny' Flash animations, this one actually had me laughing out loud - seriously, I think I was crying with laughter during the weed hallucinations.

Ignorance is Bliss

"Excellent"

submission: Ignorance is Bliss
date: June 18, 2006

This is a brilliant piece of work - the animation was slick, it was drawn fantastically, and despite technically being 'another Mario flash', it's an extremely original idea.

Were I wearing a hat, it would come off to you. Encore!

"Yep, it's me again!"

date: June 18, 2006

I'll be honest - I had something rather distasteful written here, after remembering you'd dismissed my criticism of the pilot by saying how if I didn't like it, I shouldn't have watched it. While the logical order of things dictates I'd actually have to watch your animation BEFORE forming a judgement on it, I decided I'd let this pass and come up with something a little helpful.

You series has real potential. Yeah, the guy who pissed all over your last effort did just say that. This joke was better than the last one, and the concept of 'different animals in comical situations' is actually pretty good. However - you really need to focus on making the episodes a little longer, because submitting several animations that contain literally one single joke in them (and thus each lasting about 20 seconds) isn't going to work as a series, and isn't going to gather any popularity. Furthermore - while I realise the series is more about the jokes - the graphics and voice-work do need some work.

So, yeah - I can see this getting a lot better, but I'd suggest you either make each individual episode last longer, or perhaps you could make each episode involve a number of comical situations with different sets of animals, rather than just the one. Just my $0.02!

ps. one last thing I can't quite let go - you keep responding to negative reviewers by saying that since they themselves haven't submitted any Flash animations to Newgrounds, they can't judge your work. This is a bit of a weak argument to be perfectly honest, you might as well say a music lover can't differentiate between a good and bad piece of music if he or she themselves hasn't produced any music, or that your Average Joe can't comment on a film he's just seen because he hasn't ever written, directed or acted in one.

Author's Response:

Hi again - I can see ur probably going to be a regular 'flash critic' of my work - which is good, I s'pose. You wasn't rude this time - so I won't be. I like ur idea of including a few different sets of animals, to make it longer. Perhaps I can just stick a few episodes together. In response to ur 'ps.' - the reason I respond like that to negative reviews is that they like to pretend that they know what they're talking about and have no respect for the effort that I put in to my work.

Now for my p.s. I don't remember exactly what you wrote about my pilot ep, but if i responded negatively towards you, then i'm sure I found it insulting. I've listened to your advice, so now you listen to mine. When you review peoples work in the future, please take into account the huge effort that they put into it. For example, write something like you have just now - as it isn't offensive and it is helpful.

"Pretty damn terrible"

date: June 17, 2006

I've got to be honest here, that was pretty awful - the sound quality was terrible, and I have absolutely no idea why, despite lasting about 20 seconds, the file was over 2 megs (actually, I'm assuming you didn't cut that song before importing it into Flash, so that would be it).

Anyway... I don't want to totally piss over your bonfire, so to speak - there is some potential here, although I'm afraid you're not really going to get anywhere without a severe rise in quality of the animation, sound, and jokes. And futhermore, if this is supposedly a pilot - as in, the basis for the rest of the episodes to come - then... oh dear.

ps. before you ask, yes, I am actually British, and despite you labeling this 'dry' or 'British' humour, it is in actual fact a piss-poor collection of God-awful puns ("you're acting like a right pig") and extremely tired, old jokes (the whole big bum thing is just... eurgh).

Author's Response:

Quite simply - if you don't like it don't watch it!
